I never understood US car makers' obsession to not offer the option of a manual transmission. Unless I have 2 cars,I own a stick. From shit boxes to the nice ones,very few cars are offered with a manual. I almost bought a Lincoln LS6 a few years back until I found out they discontinued the availability of the manual. I always said they should have offered a high performance version of the 98-2004 STS with a 6spd,maybe from the Vette. But as much as I love that car,it is front wheel drive.

The manual is only available in the GXP with the gas sucking 6.2 Pontiac/GM should have offered the manual in the 3.6 V6 and 6.0 GT models as well. Ford/GM/Chrysler thinks everyone wants automatics - why not offer a 6 speed manual (even the Hyundai Tiburon SE has a 6 speed ZF manual). That is why I still buy German/Japenese - I have options. Ford will not offer the Nav system in a Fusion with a manual. I want to support American cars mfgs, but they don't give me options so I buy foreign.

We actually do have factories in Australia that manufacture tyres, automotive suspension parts, including springs, and windscreen glass. Holden even build their own engines and export them to other parts of the world. The steel and aluminium is manufactured in Australia from iron ore and bauxite that is mined in Australia.

This is why I chose to buy a G8 instead of something like a Mazdaspeed 3 or a Subaru Impreza WRX too. They only come in manuals around here. I wanted something sporty but I didn't want to get a manual too since I lived in the city. And the G8 seemed the best deal since they have automatics of them everywhere.

the 4-A that they're equipped with has wide gearing which makes the acceleration slower. They coulda fitted the gxp with the 5-A that's standard on some chrysler and ford models, which has shorter gearing and additional gear which would also improve cruising fuel economy. and as far as fwd goes, since this car is meant to be a performance car, it being fwd makes it hard to launch, cuz the front lifts up as the car surges forward, hence sports cars are rwd. other than that, gxp still a good car

you're a real piece of work man. I am an enthusiast and i am a GM Technician by trade. I love these cars and we have one. They're a beautiful work of art and go almost anywhere. Snow and Ice included. Plus it has 303hp factory and i'm experienceing 26.4 mpg highway and im getting 23.7 combined. Regularly. Love GXP Grand Prix

With a better tune, I can manage 13.5s. mods:k&n intake, magnaflow exhaust, custom header from lopez autoworks, "SUPERCHIPS FLASHPAQ PROGRAMMER, tuned ecu, and NITTO NT555 Tire...... 350 hp @ crank, 280 to wheels!!!! I just bought myself a nice 2008 GXP. It's a mean machine, but I will upgrade it. I'm adding a Hanns Intercooler (+40hp), a CAI(+9HP) and I'll reflash the ECM (with MadFlash*)(+32HP). These mods alone will get the car to around 340 HP and 350 lbs.f. of torque, and it won't cost me more than 1,600 bucks.

You can get a 75k+ 2004+ GXP on Ebay\AutoTrader for around 7500 and have plenty of choices in options etc. There's NO WAY you can say the same for any of the cars you named. Also I wouldn't trust the trannys out of any of those cars and a replacement = big money. GM is doin a damn thang with US motor engineering with the vette, GXP, Skylines and they are AFFORDABLE. This video is a bad mark of what the car would rev like. It's a 260hp turbo 4 cylinder with peak torque from about 2000 - 5000. It has electronic throttle as well. My point is I can almost guarantee it would rev quickly, and its a light engine, 2.0 liter aluminum.

If you get the turbo version it has traction/stability control, with it enabled its almost impossible to spin out or loose control... it makes a bad driver look good basically.
