Oh my, Kensington has become such a mess. Filthy dirty!!!!! I remember growning up there and people took pride in there community. People out cleaning and sweeping out side.

The irony of Dennis Cornish being found guilty of abusing handicapped teenagers was the fact that, if my memory serves me right, he used to sometimes present the late night thought for the day type slot.

the original "Galloping Gourmet" show in the 1960s was broadcast on the east coast at 3PM on ABC. At 3:30PM "DARK SHADOWS" was on and was the number 1 show at the time for daytime serials. I think the Galloping Gourmet benefited a lot from being on just before that popular daytime soap opera.

From what I can remember, Westward took the majority of the networks programming up until 11.45pm when they showed the Hogamany Show for 15 minutes. TSW already took over from Westward back in August but kept their name until the end of 1981. ATV was the same company as Central in some sense apart from name but Southern was a completely different company to TVS although most staff was able to retain their jobs into the new company.

Probably the 20 Years Of Westward programme, but I believe that LWT networked a programme which was shown in May 1989 as a tribute to the Cornish writer Daphne du Maurier which Westward made back in 1977 in which she was interviewed by Cliff Michelmore anout her books.

They actually did, including Drake's Venture which was shown on 28th December 1980 when they learned from the IBA that their franchise wouldn't be renewed. Anyway, the edition of the Hogmanay Show was made in 1980 but was repeated because it was wrong for Westward to take the rest of the network programming as TSW had to officially take over; ATV and Southern only changed their names to Central and TVS respectively, as like Westward they had to retain their staff and studios.

Is it me hearing thing but when they all say "Happy New Year" theres one of the crew saying "Jolly Good" I wonder if he always gets confused every year at midnight and says "Jolly Good" instead of Happy New Year :o) Lovely video, one of those crossovers that nobody seems to have visually and I've been looking for those for years but we can't complain when at least we have audio.

I remember Westward, and I was 6, I remember a children's programme called Stepping Stones - my mum still calls it Westward, and we're several franchisees down the road now (and maybe at the end of the line). And that morphing logo TSW had really sticks in the mind - wtf was that about?

A very sad day when Westward closed, I remember it well. As a brand name it still lives in people of a certain ages memory today. In the Westcountry, a good many people over 50 still refer to ITV as Westward. I spent most of my working life as a humble TV engineer in South Somerset, happy days

Scottish Television's end-of-the-year special. It was a concert and a program. ITV stations do it......don't they?! Thames TV did it in 1992.... but,sadly Thames Television putted nostalgia on it before the infamous CARLTON TELEVISION took over!!

Can you draw a storyboard of the Westward TV-TSW franchise changeover for me? I have a new plan: use Lego Mindstorms and use software and use a 2nd copy as a CD so I can get the robot to talk and walk and I should film it in bluescreen and make a digital version of the set comparised with old TV equipment filmed on the Canon XL-2! And the funding? I think it should be $14,000. I should convert the cash from UK pounds to US dollars.
