I'm so tired of people complaining about everything it gets me so frusterated!!! ugh... your first couple years at say a regional first officer spot earn very little, but once you stick with that job for 5+ years at a good, stable airline, your chances of making a lot of money are great! Hey just look at UPS...their pay rates for 2nd year first officer on the beginning plane in 2012 is going to be $149/hour! Another thing they excluded is that military pilots these days would rather stay with the military since it's better pay and better benefits for them. As far as a degree, it tends to be used by major carriers simply as a way to reduce applications received by the airline when hiring. As there are more non-degree pilots than degree pilots, it reduces the number of applicants. Even more so with a Masters degree.

Don't become an Airline Pilot. What a big mistake. Flying planes is fun, but not worth it when it comes to stability and money. Do it as a hobby. I'm going back to school to be an engineer. Tired of the layoffs, the labor-management problems, and lack of a descent wage. The good times are gone (unless you are a 20+ year veteran at some major). The video is misleading.

Most pilots around the world who get paid US like in Hong Kong and Dubai are right now asking for money in a different currency. Places like that the cost of living is not low and without a pay rise in 5 years and a falling US dollar things are not all peachy as people think. I just think its weird how in global pilot shortages the US guys need 2000tt just for right seat of a metro and I heard that from a ex metroliner FO's I now fly with in PNG. I just don't think the degree helps overseas.

How is that a joke? companys who think your good (and know you wont mess up) will pay you u.s type salaries in a country that cost half as much to live in. The only reason to say in the u.s is if you already have seniority if not you have more job security and earnings potential in most advanced or emerging country's.whether your a turbo prop guy or an airline pilot Other countrys have a "demand for pilots" whereas most u.s airlines are doing furlough,grounding planes and making captains FO's.

Glasses are accepted in civil aviation, like the "you have to be rich to do it" nonsense this is not true. you need 20/20 or need good enough eyes that glasses are able to correct it for 20/20. KLM requires a lot for you to partake in selection for sponsorship but aside from high math and physics, 20/20 eyesight without glasses is not one of them. Jus 20/20 with or without glasses. i think the pilots who cant get jobs are the ones without degrees or the one that don't want to move. my cousin has been a commercial pilot for 3 years and when he got his masters got a corporate pilot job in Brazil for 170,000 BRL which is around 100,000 u.s. If you start young there is no problem with making 20,000-30,000 your first couple of years, because you shouldn't have a family to support.

How much hygienists earn varies WIDELY depending on what part of the country you live in. The West Coast is the best paying with best conditions. WA State has some of the strictest licensure req's and is the only one that req's restorative exam. East Coast states like Alabama, Florida, etc. IMO is the worst in terms of pay, working conds, etc.

I like electronic engineering because of the things you can work with it such as circuit designing. Plus, with a knowledge of electronic engineering, I can probably fix electronic gadgets and such. I like to do that, always wanted to since I was in my early teens. My dad's side of the family is a bunch of labor and technical hands on workers that kind got me interest in engineering. My dad worked in ships and oil rigs (quite mechanical), he only had an associate degree marine engineering though.

Aerospace is not that different from mechanical, because they have the same kind of disciplines... Difference is maybe that aerospace engineers go a bit deeper on aerodynamics than mechanical engineers. But it's something mechanical engineers can do too, so they are not different, in my opinion. As a mechanical engineer you can go work in any kind of company because of what you learn in university. Learn many things. When I finnish my degree in 4 years time, I hope to join an aerospace company.

Right boys let put it this way, all engineering is extremely difficult.Mech engineering do consist of a lot of mathematics but it does not necesarily make it the toughest engineering.
