I think the slide guitar is standard tuning too. Check out second 26-27, the last note of the bar where he lifts his left hand from the fretboard. It's just the E string, so I guess it's also standard tuning. Maybe the other strings have different tuning, but if both guitar are playing in the same tonality (E minor) they will probably have the same tuning.

Yeah, it's standard tuning on Kensrue's guitar. You can see him fingering Em, Am, C and several other chords throughout the song. I don't know about the electric guitarist though. It seems to me that slide guitar often makes use of alternate tunings, but I'm not good enough at playing with a slide to follow what he's doing.

Can I be the mediator here and just say that I love both Thrice and Radiohead. Radiohead have been around much longer then Thrice and Thrice look up to Radiohead. You can't even compare both bands. Both bands write incredible music and both bands have amazing frontmen who write thought-provoking and challenging lyrics. Let's stop the pointless bickering here. no its not their best Album. And honestly they hate Creep. They never play it. The distortion before the chorus was the guitar player trying to mess the song up because he hated it so much. But they ended up keeping it in the song cause it sounded good. The Bends, Ok computer, and Kid A are awesome albums.

Dude, Seriously Dustin Kensrue is probably one of the best songwriters alive right now. His use of imagery is pretty much the best I have ever heard. Read the lyrics on any Thrice or one of his own songs and just try and tell me that they aren't awesome. Creep is probably Radiohead's only good song. I like almost all of Thrices stuff and ALL of Dustin's solo songs. Maybe you should come out of your musical box and listen to better stuff.

I was a fan of Thrice before Dustin's solo stuff. And when he did his own stuff, it just showed how versatile he was and I loved that. And at the time I had heard some stuff from Radiohead but only a few things and very briefly. I saw this performance after finally being a fan of Radiohead. And to be honest the album that Creep is on isn't their best.

So I had never listed to Chuck Ragan before tonight despite me being a huge Thrice fan and Kensrue fanatic. I started looking around and listening to a lot of his stuff and realized the huge impact of this had to be for the crowd. TehLief, by calling them a christian band you are placing Thrice in the lowest quarters of music where bands preach and try to impose their own values on others. Thrice is most definitely NOT a preachy band and though they utilize religious and biblical themes in their music, they use it in a way that their art is relevant to all listeners regardless of their faiths or belief in god. I am personally not religious and I find Thrice's lyrical concepts relevant to my life.

People always give Thrice crap for not "sticking to their roots." Thrice is much too creative to simply play Identity Crisis over and over again. Don't get me wrong. I love that album, but being able to see them all grow is much more interesting.

Well, it's more post-hardcore if you're going to slap a genre to it. I can see where both sides of the argument come from, the lyrics seemed a bit emo and people that are obsessed with labeling music consider that emo which in that logic, I suppose early Thrice would be. Unfortunately for them, music is more than labels and Thrice is the pinnacle of progressive. They constantly change and of course their early stuff will have some teen angst, Dustin was 19 for Christ's sake. Get over it.
