Sorry I got my measurement mixed up. Who cares that it's only a small amount larger. And doing flips strengthen's your joints, developes air sense(oh did I mention break falling too?). Wushu is a martial art and the reason why you don't think it is because you only look at the forms aspect. There's also a fighting aspect called sanshou which is like muay thai but includes grappling.

how is 38.9 inch vert even measurable according to the english system that goes by 1/8. and how does doing backflips and spinning around like a queer make you live longer? it's exercise in general that makes you healthy, and sorry kid, that includes volleyball. wushu is not martial arts in that it doesn't have to do with fighting. wushu is theatrical gymnastics. in other words, gymastics that's really queer. in other words, anime in real life. in other words, gay.

Well... average. The fight looks too choreographed. There are so many points where one guy pauses in the fight waiting for the next move. I wouldn't want to fight you outside of a performance, hell no, but in one you've got to try and make it look more natural.

For me it's like this: I have not seen to much wushu to have a professional opinion on this; but it's like a dance, yes it's impressive to see a fast and extreme dance - but seeing several after each other will get boring after a while, that's when you need flavour. But nowadays they train wushu all the same, they need to get back some of the other styles of kung-fu, not limiting it

De una u otra forma, los chinos se las van a ingeniar para mostrar el Wushu en los JJOO, aunque sea a manera de exhibición. Para promocionarlo, además de las "muestras" que puedan hacerse en las Olimpiadas, paralelamente a ellas se va a realizar un Campeonato Mundial de Wushu, con el objetivo de dar a conocer el Wushu. Ahora, no estoy seguro de qué modalidades van a incluir, pero según lo que supe, sería sólo tao-lu (changquan y nanquan, armas, etc), dejando de lado el Sanshou por ésta vez.

La verdad es triste q no se pueda demostrar este año el valor del wu shu como arte marcial, pero quienes lo practicamos sabemos q es una disciplina profunda y de gran contenido marcial aunq los movimientos sean mas parecidos a una danza q a una lucha real todo tiene aplicacion fisica y mas aplicacion en la conducta de quienes lo practican.. saludos y sigan entrenado

meh...Shaolin Kung Fu is not the only type of Kung Fu/WuShu. There are taoistic kung fu and even islamic kung fu and of course most styles are not associated with any religion at all. WuShu is not a style, Wushu means martial art and can both mean chinese martial arts in general and the sport wushu which you seem to refer to.

I still prefer shaolin kung fu. The chinese gov took away the buddist aspect of kung fu, to make it political more correct. and also flattened out the meditation component. In this way they made it a kind of martial ballet. Wu Shu is Kung Fu without a heart

no te perjudicará, solo que has de tener una cosa en cuenta, hay ciertos movimientos que requieren que se empleen más las articulaciones forzandolas eso lo tienes que evitar. Si practicas los movimientos, hazlo lento para ganar más movilidad articular. Yo también te aconsejaria kung fu, pero no wu shu (te lo dijeron al reves) wu shu es el estilo. Yo te recomiendo artes marciales internas, así como Chi kung o Tai chi. Saludos y espero que te mejores.

Freakin' AMAZING! The only thing that can come close to the grace that the Chinese have is the Ballet, and even so, I still say whushu is more gracful. And is it just me, or does martial arts and hip-hop music just go great together?

But they are still relatively modern forms. I love alot of these forms that were created in the 50's through the 70's for competition because they still had amazing gongfu and flavor plus alot of the elements of the traditional styles. Alot of people still get confused now as to what is really traditional and what is contemporary but thats a debate generally political in nature and not one I am a fan of so I simply call this style 'old school modern wushu to avoid debating with traditionalists.

also I hate to point this out as well, but most of these forms are new forms invented in the last century mixing elements of traditional shaolin Quan, Cha quan and Hua Quan. If one would be so inclined as to compete in a shaolin form at an international level, they would have to do a form similar to this, so I wouldn't even call these 'traditional gongfu.' granted, I think they are 10000% better than modern nandu wushu and they have way WAY more gonfu than nandu wushu in my opinion.

The same can be said for this video. Here the monks are doing wushu (Martial Arts) though they are doing a traditional style of wushu. Than your argument would have to be simply a matter of opinion between which has more gongfu, the sport or the tradition, either way it doesn't change the fact that they're both called wushu in china. Only through our own interests can we assume which has more gongfu, but that is something that is personal and subjective.

But that is only because Wushu has become a sport that looks like that, There are both traditional and contemporary styles of Tae Kwon Do for example, and both have gongfu in their own ways, though one is more of a sport created for world competition while the other is a traditional martial art. It would be incorrect to assume that only one has "great skill" just because it follows a different principle.
