AT&T is doing the same thing regarding their land line service. It took my dad 10 minutes to get the lady on the other end to cancel his phone service. Eventually it was done, but the lady was still an ass about it.

That's actually a false automatic letter. AOL used to have a program where if an employee could hold on to half of the customers that wanted to cancel, they would get a multi thousand dollar bonus. So it really was AOL pulling the strings.

i used to pay for aol, but for the last three years I have had it for free. i simply use it for mail. you can actually cancel your account online. two clicks with a follow up, " are you sure you want to cancel?'.

Oh, it's extremely easy to cancel your AOL account. Just start a discussion perceived as critical of either Israel or Jews, or favorable to the many Arabs forced from their homes into "relocation" camps by the Israeli military, and your AOL account will be blocked almost immediately. You'll be told to create a new account when you call. When you attempt to do that, there will always be "something wrong with your credit card."

Uh, yeah they DO. I've had it for 3 years now, and i've never NEVER gotten a bill. Seeing how I got it for free, I just dont have all the other stuff that I ACTUALY have to pay for. And yes. I DID enjoy it for that 3 years. I just find Hotmail better.
