Nor can they tell you where to put it. A shared folder or otherwise. Neither is it an issue to tell people or show people that's where you keep your back ups. And if you chose to publish that location on a website, neither you nor that website is infringing on copy write. It is only a crime to actually download it.

You are hilarious! The hair comment really cracked me up. With all honesty though, both Rod Stewart and Michael Bolton have excellent voices. I don't know quite where Bolton went wrong though. Maybe too many covers and not enough mentioning the originals when accepting awards. Regardless, I love this version. P.S. Rod Stewart technically doesn't have bad hair. But, for me, the reason it is such a great song is because of the natural passion, soul, enrgy, fragility of Otis Redding. in the DVD example, i'm reasonably sure that'd class as a public showing, which isn't allowed under the terms of use. data doesn't wear down, it has an effectively infinite lifespan, so a single copy is all that's needed for everyone and those copies can be used simultaneously. the car example isn't like that, only one person can use it at a time and it wears down with use, which is why it's different. i'm not against torrents, but the act it's self is certainly breaching fair use

I can understand that morally it's virtually the same thing. But technically, the courts seem to pick and choose when to tie the two together. Everything TPB does could be 100% legal. For example, some of them will be freeware, like Linux. And if you own pay for use software, videos or music, you're entitled access to copies of that data. Maybe you could argue involvement, but when it comes down to it, the pirate bay is only providing references for data, they are not handling stolen data. Tiger is completely in tune when he plays. He makes the extraordinary seem ordinary. Unless you play and know how challenging golf is, you don't get it.
