The writing in the movie was top-notch but I must admit that Heath Ledger stole the show. I found myself getting upset when he wasn't on screen because I was so fascinated by his character and the Ledger (as bale stated) "immersed himself completely" in the role. I like the idea that he killed and created havoc for no particular reason "I'm like a dog chasing cars..." He had a dark sense of humor that I felt was always lacking from the previous jokers. The exaggerated features and over the top animation is a big part of what makes japanese anime attractive to audiences. It's not the "best" form of animation, if one can even quantity such a thing, but it has some obvious strengths and its nice to see a new spin on batman. I loved the 1992 Batman:TAS and I also happen to like Batman Beyond. I can enjoy different ways of telling the Batman story. :)

And I give you my full respect. However I have dissiagree with you on one thing, personally I think its the complete opposite. I find much of genesis stuff to be extremely boring, And I think Suppers Ready is great, but not nearly as good As Tarkus or Tails From Topographic Oceans. Our own opionions of course, however I think people who havn't associated themselves with proggresive rock much tend to favor genesis first because it is indeed probably the simplest musically.

There are so many people who rag on Genesis for having never had virtuoso musicians like King Crimson or Yes did, but whatever, I think that their strong point was their songwriting. Totally accessible and melodic unlike some Yes and King Crimson stuff, but still progressive rock. Supper's Ready is so much better than "Tarkus" or any of that shit off "Tales from Topographic Oceans" because it's actually a SONG.

When the prog music sound is done well it's close to heaven. But it's hard to be great all the time and when it's not so good or terrible, those 11 minutes songs can be a chinese water torture. With Prog you get extreme high or extreme lows. It's a fine line to cross and probably why it never lasted as long as it could have. Radio also didn't want 10 minute songs either. So it was doomed either way.

Prog music is a very esoteric sound. The songs can be too long, too pretentious. 5 minute guitar solos or 5 minute keyboard solos. Double neck guitars or in this case double neck bass. All these bands, Genesis, Rush, Yes, etc. is what brought on punk in the late 70's. It was a reaction to all the extravangance and over the top theatrics of music at this time. 11 minute epic songs with virtuoso guitar, drum and keyboard solos were replaced with angry,2-3 minute bursts of inner anger.

No, you're right. There's no comparison but many still say "Eddie invented tapping" which is not as true as he made it his and brought it to the mainstream! And of course, he did revolutionize the electric guitar.

Not sure you can compare that to Eddie's playing. I mean, he revolutionalized guitarplaying and the tapping technique which originally stems from classical music. I think Eddie used this technique first time live in 1976 so it's not that much later. Still, I love Steve's playing, he is a very unique guitarist just like Fripp or Belew. Brilliant!
