If you don't attach the ground straps the motor it will find a ground wherever it can since it's got rubber engine mounts. It will try to ground itself through the axles, throttle cable, or even other components. For the axles and bearings it will heat up the grease in them and start arcing, once that starts the grease is no good and the bearings will wear out very fast.

Just a few tips to make your life easier for next time. It's much easier to take the p/s pump loose and swing it to the back of the motor and out of the way. I even take the alternator loose too for the extra space. For the (rear) gear reducer balance shaft you can pull the plug out to the right of it and thread a bolt into the balancer to make sure it's lined up. (especially if you're replacing the seals). There is also no need to put marks on the water pump. It's not balanced.

Awsome I will have to do this when my accord needs that job needs to be done in 16K more miles plus I am going to get the pump as well. I have to agree with dave with those accords in the salty areas need the torch, mine did on almost everything under the body exposed to salty roads. I really like honda's but you have to baby them because the impact rench will do some damage to those cars. I hand turn everything I can before impact go's on.

another great one dave! hey heres a redneck trick thats shop proven.. if your in a hurry or dont have a torch near by.. place your braker bar and socket on the crank pully bolt, position it so it sets against the frame or control arm and just a tap on the starter will bust that puppy loose =0 just becareful and make sure you disconect the distributor so it does not start on ya ;) keep on keepin on!
