've lived in Cuba, it has its strong points and weak points. The most disturbing thing I find is that people support its corrupt and oppressive government- its not even about ideology or anything else. Yes you have ADEQUATE education and healthcare, but what can you do with them? Many Cubans just sit in their rocking chairs and pass the day away because there is no opportunity to fulfill your dreams, or even simple pleasures like speaking your mind. I know, because my dad was jailed for it.

Technology is not the same as energy. Nanotechnologies still require energy input. Nothing we've developed yet has as much energy density as well as portability of oil. In the documentary "The Power of Community" which Megan talked about, we see how Cubans survived the sudden withdrawal of oil from their country. It was survival not necessarily preference.

In general I'd agree with you, but do you really want to bet your future on it? Take a look at the decline of Cantarell (14-20%) or some of the North Sea fields (25-30%). The bell curve may not be a fit here. We're on that plateau now. At this point, it isn't a given that oil from shale can make up the difference; we need to be thinking about making adjustments. According to Hirsch in the DOE report, we needed to start planning 25 years ago, and the recently released IEA report confirms it.

I doubt oil will peak in such a dramatic fashion. Generally speaking, production in oil fields follows a sort of plateau. Furthermore, there are untapped reserves of oil shale that could be developed in an economic fashion once the price of oil has made a comeback.

There is overwhelming evidence that it comes from ancient sedimentary organic matter (algae and zooplankton, not dinosaurs.) Hydrocarbons such as methane have been detected elsewhere in the solar system, but if there is an abiotic process of oil genesis taking place somewhere deep within the planet (doubtful), it isn't happening fast enough to compensate for our steady depletion of known reserves.

And if you think it's about having nothing left to sell, you're mistaken. We don't have to run out for the troubles to start. It's not about the size of the reserve, it's about the rate of flow relative to demand. There may be plenty of $200 or $300 a barrel oil in a few years, not so much at $100. Google IEA World Energy Outlook 2008 and check out the decline rates. And these guys are optimists!

"Oil Companies" are actually Energy Suppliers and Exxon provides most of the Uranium to nuclear plants as well and Chevron is the largest producwer of commercial Geothermal Power and also Hydro-Electric. Governments restrict R&D on them and still make them supply oil "at gunpoint" though it's not really profitable to them as Alternative Energy would be.

Saudis don't have as much oil that they say they do, but they are intentionally trickling the spigot. Truth of the matter is that a barrel is 47 gallons, and the Saudis get about 5 cents a gallon, and the Oil Companies make 10 cents a gallon of their end of the deal with government subsidies covering the loss of about $7 a gallon in transporting it and selling it to a refiner.

The scariest thing about this is that Simmons is downplaying the issue. When equating the energy in oil to human muscle energy or labor, a GALLON of oil is worth over $1,000. I understand why he is just going with the numbers that people throw out though. Most people probably imagine $1,000 per gallon to be beyond possibility and even ludicrous. ehh.....there ok.....i dont feel the leggings are very flattering for almost anybody unless you want to look curvyish i feel they would only be better worn with a solid top or somethign solid or else you look over done and kind of crazy, and not the good kind of it either, in my opinion, these kind of leggings are more flattering for the girls who have boylike bodys, as in not that little curv thing that us girls have. so overall the leggings with sequins arent all that great in my opinion

U are truly a fool Audi introduced the Group 4quattro in 1981, Walter was signed in to do the 1983 championship in the quattro after beating Michelle Mouton in an Opel Ascona/Manta beating a 4wd drive with his 2wd Opel. FULL of electronics, wtf do u know about the pug man, suspension, chassis, engine was all mechanically setup. Designed using electronics with an ECU. It was just lighter and mid engined, but he also had less hp then the S1 whine all you want hold onto whatever argument u think makes u happier, Ari won it. Even in 87 in the 205 if you watch any Doco about that event, Ari had mechanical issues. pwnt !

I did play the PS1 GT version of this track. I probably will get this game now. What is it DIRT 2.0 or something? This still is not enough to impress for me. The car is going up the hill 25% faster than actually possible. Track looks the same as in reality except it has more pavement now. This car looks like the Celica V6 twin turbo to me.
