I think right when the leopard noticed the baby, in it's own strange way, it felt some kind of remorse for the kill, hence, it was more concerned for the babies safety than eating the kill itself. It's called "cross ruddering", It is for bleeding off altitude when your aproach is too high. or compensating for crosswinds. You just give it full rudder one way and full ailerons the other way and push the nose down,basicly a controlled stall. right before touch down you release the rudder and ailerons wich shoots you forward from the momentum of your vertical decend.
