Exactly. Foreign oil represents a breach of national security - especially in future generations. Most of the US money that is paid out for crude oil to OPEC, winds up in the hands of terrorists. It gets laundered through the world markets, and ultimately funds radical Islamist groups - ie Al Quaida, Jihad, Hezzbollah, etc... We need new alternative energy for the future. That is a long way away - 20 years maybe. McCain's idea of building 80+ nuclear plants -I'll side with Obama and the Dems on that one. The thing that bothers me about nuke plants, besides they are environmental disasters waiting to happen, is that they are also terrorist targets. I believe it's time to search for new energy rather than depending on foriegn oil. US have imported 70% of its oil for someone's else compared 20% way before. Given 70% of our controls to other countries, I don't feel good in that. Oil stock prices has no correlation with gas price as we've seen now. Oil is half of his high of 140 few month ago. yet, gas price is still as high as before with just few cents drop. I don't have my gas price going down half, and sadly it will never go 2 again.

But, Obama will not allow any new drilling. His energy plan is all about hydro and solar and wind technology. The oil companies like the Democrats more than the Republicans on the drilling issue. For taxes, I'm sure it's the other way around. So, if you look at the earnings reports of Big Oil, there is a direct correlation with the high price of the barrel. The higher the barrel goes - the higher the profits go. Therefore: Obama = no new drilling = more profit for Big Oil.

Every canditate says that biodiesel is only a good thing. But there are huge problems concerning biodiesel. If it's made out of corn or other eatable plants, biodiesel would contribute a lot to the world wide hunger problems. Prices of corn would rise if more of it would be used for biodiesel. Other problems are the clearing of the rainforests for big monocultures that need a lot of fertilizer (often made of oil). The soils get leached out... Biodiesel is no sustainable energy!

I cannot see why pulling out of a region we control would encourage our enemies to lower prices. they are not fighting us in retaliation, they fight unprovoked (9/11). As far as simultaneously lowering costs, while at the same time creating jobs in this industry I don't see that as being very easy to do. The less employees you have to pay, the less you can charge for the product they produce. I can't say any of the candidates energy agendas get me excited, but this one is particularly naive.
