I have read all comments and I will say it again it is a move in kick boxing and even in Bokator. My arguement is is not Thai. You would never use this move to attack the body in thai. This is why thai is so different you use shin to execute round house always yes some kick boxing moves are being used in Thai. I do use my foot to attack inside leg at knee and above knee but never body. In Bokator they use the this move to hit the neck(i think its called cup jarran)

We are not talking about baseball here. What do you mean with proper foundation? Some fighters even jump when performing a kick, so they dont even have a foundation at all. The forces of the spin will keep you balanced, like a spinning top. Please make your own instructional video about how to execute a proper roundhouse. I am very curious and looking forward to see a 'real' muay thai roundhouse kick.

siameseboxing, Yes, everyone has their own perception of what is correct, and does adjustments..but if they are wrong, they should be corrected and pointed out. That is the job of a competent instructor. I respect your right to have your own opinion, but I must disagree with you. This vid in noway shows the basics of a proper muay thai roundhouse. Also, a batter hits harder w/ both feet on the ground, not one in the air. Less friction is useless with out proper foundation.

Everybody has his own perception of how to execute a kick. Every person is an individual and every person adjust the movement to his own liking. In my opinion the basics of the kicks are good and its a very good instruction video wich shows the essientials of a kick. And the higher you on your ball, the less friction with the ground, so the spin / rotation will be harder. When executng a low kick you can make a bigger step outwards so its less (or not) nescesary to rotate on your ball.

Its not an explosion of weight, its momentum which is created from your body's rotation. If weight is anywhere, it is in the planted leg, which serves as a base to create the momentum in the kicking leg. The weight you put on the resting leg doesn't cause you to spring up like this guy in the video who is frickin terrible...Higher lift is just sometimes necessary for higher kicks. If height of ball was so important, fighters would be doing that with low kicks too..cmon sagg. I'm dissapointed.

well its not so much the rising up on ur foot puts power into ur kick. its just that the initial explosion of weight u put into ur kicking leg causes ur other leg to rise up on the ball of ur foot. both buakaw and yod and any notable thai fighter come up on the ball of their foot when throwing kicks. And if u keep ur back straight u dont lose stability, even if u miss the target

Yes, I agree that you are supposed to rise up (somewhat) off the ball of ur foot upon instepping for a roundhouse. But the statement that "The higher you are on your toe, the harder the kick" is just pure ignorance/misunderstanding. On average, if really high on the ball, you and most others will more than likely LOSE power as well as stability. Totally untrue that higher on ball=more power. Watch buakaw,sakmongkol, and most MT boxers. They don't lift off of foot for most kicks.

Yeah definately. I presume most, if not all of the Elite forces around the world do that sort of thing (apart from the Taliban! LOL) using the Gas. I didn't mean soldiers have died in the Gas tents but the Gas used is very deadly. I should be joining up with the British Army next year sometime and if things go my way, being part of the SAS in around 5 years time. I know it's a hell of a step up from the Army, but i'm willing to train myself physically and mentally over the years.

SAS id suppose to be the most elite soldiers, but regarding the gas training all american infantry soldiers do that same test with the gas so that they know when to get there mask on and they also have to keep there mask off for a certain amount of time that is the same as the SAS so its nothing really special ,but as for people dying durinmg special forces training it wouldnt be from the gas or weapons training it would be from there survival training they go through which is the most intense.

i think Rocky should have concentrated more on tactics and actual sparring than domestic tasks such as clearing snow from the pathway and doing some routine trimming of hedges, trees etc. Also, some of those trees looked quite old so i wonder if he had planning permission to remove them.

The problem is JCSAP123, is that the adage "you fight how you train" is true. So if you practice throwing elbows that way, chances are high that you throw weak elbows with no protection in a fight or in the ring. The technique in this particular video promotes bad habits.

OMG Where do I start? 1. Where is your cover? Why are you throwing the elbow with your arm? Weren't your trained to throw with your body/pivot? 3. Half of the drill techniques are spent with your back facing your opponent...when do you want your back exposed? I don't know, I guess this is what they teach in sport/ring muay thai schools, but imho it is a disservice to muay thai, having been an MT instructor for for 11 years.

I was always was taught to put the opposite hand over the nose with your hand making a fist and pressing it against your forehead to make sure your arm dosent go anywhere. I figure this makes more sense becuase it can block all but the most precise uppercut and incoming elbows. Also, your elbow strike should guard most of that side of your face and while you rotate, the other side of your face will be away from your opponent making it very difficult for him to strike that side of your face.
