I think you have it backwards, they are supposed to prove a persons guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, not offer 4 or 5 theories of his guilt. Insofar, as they could be considered investigations, I agree the HSCA was probably a worse than the Warren Comm. They were both politically motivated rush jobs with compromised personnel. 6 months was about all the HSCA did "investigating." You actually need to read the testimony rather than the politically motivated conclusions or reports. I would start with the police who were actually in or around the motorcade. The medical evidence is a mess and no conclusion can be reached about it.

Since you appear to be totally unaware of it- I am talking about the official autopsy report that places the entry of the head wound at the base of the skull, NOT 4 INCHES HIGHER, than where the photo supposedly shows it. I am talking about the HSCA photo panel that examined the DoD autopsy camera and scientifically determined it was NOT THE CAMERA that took the photos now at the national archives. I haven't suggested conspiracy. Just that Oswald was probably innocent. Even when the witness can be cross examined, not done by the Warren Commission, eyewitness evidence is notoriously unreliable. The fact that the government concealed police notes for almost 40 yrs that corroborate Oswald's alibi, greatly discredits any case against him. The scientific certainty that the JFK autopsy photos were not taken by the Department of Defense camera which their records show was the camera used for the autopsy. The autopsy photos do not corroborate the wound locations of the autopsy report. They also concealed forensic evidence that shows Oswald did not fire a rifle that day. I never said gold was leaving the US. During the Great Depression gold was flowing into the United States because nations had to pay off there debt in gold yet the money supply was not increased. While some of it had to do with FDR's social programs a good portion also has to be given to the fact that the money supply was not increased when the demand on it increased. But growth is also hindered by the Gold Standard. That's why under the Gold Standard there were so many crashes. If you fail to produce the amount of currency needed for economic activity then will cause a rapid deflation. The other problem with gold is that as a commodity the amount of gold moving effects the currency. A large injection of gold into the market would inflate the currency and reduction of gold production would rapidly deflate it.

Regarding the gas tax holiday, I think every little bit helps, but it's mainly just a feel-good program. I think it's possible that if gas is reduced 18.4 cents/gallon, demand would increase and we may be back at square one with regard to price, but that extra 18.4 cents/gallon would go to oil companies (instead of government), and it would be better for them to have it to facilitate exploration and drilling.

Also other countries are paying a lot more (as you mentioned) at the pump than we are. The reason people (myself included) are feeling the pain is inflation vs lack of credible annual pay increases from employers.
