That's RNA from Japan. He has since done better and scored over 30000000 pts in a hard mode run. I've tried surviving Tageri at the end. The longest I've ever gone without dying is down to 47 secs. The missiles come at you as fast as you can change collors. After 1 death he slows down but he's still pretty fast. On the Gamecube version without the slowdown of the Dreamcast, surviving it has never been done, and I wonder if the programmers had ever intended it to be possible.

Ok, I'm trying to hone my skills at the moment, but I can't get my head around how at 0.20m only the black guys get shot by the homing lasers. I've tried it like 30 times allready and those white bastards get shot as well and I always miss some of the black ones! aaargh, terrible game :P (is this done with the pal or NTSC version of the game?)

I'm writing a 'survival strategies' FAQ for the game; an easy way to do this boss is launch your uber laser as black, then switch to black and try to deal some damage regularly. When you die, don't bother being normal - just dash right to the middle and do direct damage....if done right you can beat the boss losing only 1 life; if done poorly, losing 2. -AHMAD

The boss isn't easy. It's hard as hell. If you don't do the switch in the middle of the beam (which is nigh impossible), he starts rotating the other way and bouncing around *and* the hatches start closing in on you. It's only easy if you do it really fast; like this. -AHMAD

his nerves are so highly strung that they constantly need stimulation so he twirls the ships around in circles when he has the chance lol. This is VTF-INO, and the vid is pretty old. He's been working for years now on a strat to get every last one of those enemies from the outside. A perfect level would yield 243 chains for him. In single player, the world record is 237 chains. I can get 232 chains here and damn, that took 200 hours of practice! \m/

i must say though that i did not get very far in this experiment though, only past the first level with an intact chain for both ships (i didn't shoot nearly as many ships as this guy). after spending so much time to beat one player with one continue, i wanted to move on to another game so i quickly became impatient and did not pursue it further. if you don't believe that i at least own this game i will gladly take some pictures of the case and disc with whatever proof that it's actually me

Inspired by this video, I tried this about a year ago. After a bit (I presume the guy in this video will agree) it doesn't feel like you are trying to be two players at once. Eventually, you coordinate the ships to help each other. Of course, it is in almost no way easier than a one player game, but once you're familiar with the play style of two ships, you catch on to techniques you couldn't do in a one player game. i never claimed that this was easy, but i guess i have to make it clear...

quite impressive, but i think that playing two player by yourself isn't too different difficulty-wise than playing one player. from the video you can see that playing two player has its advantages: double firepower, can be both polarities at once, one ship can act as a shield, each ship can tackle differently polarized groups so chains can continue. of course it has obvious difficulties as well, but this guy is still quite skilled and dedicated to pull it off
