Awesome man. I have yet to hear "Children of God/Skin on Skin" but I did stumble across the Various Failures 1988-1992 set. I enjoy it quite a bit. It's definitely different than Cop, very folky. I'm glad you enjoyed Slanted though, it's definitely one of my favorites. In The Mouth Of A Desert still blows my mind everytime I hear it.

That's a good suggestion. You really can't go wrong with any Pavement album though, I love them all from start to finish. I got into Pavement through being fan of The Fall and the fact that they drew a lot of Fall comparisons early on in their career. Did you know that "Conduit for Sale!" recycles the main guitar riff from "New Face In Hell"? Fun fact.

coming off wowee zowee i think brighten the corners is your next logical step, as it show the band progressing into a more refined state of what they were teasing with Wowee. we also see malkmus at his strongest yet most vulnerable as a songwriter, which is comforting after the wild and eclectic wowee. then i would go for slanted and enchanted to get that raw taste back in your mouth.

It isn't as torturous as the Cop/Young God material. It's a strong album though, I enjoy most of it. I have the cd version, which came with Body To Body, Job To Job, my favorite Swans record. Seek it out if you haven't already. It's pretty damn depressing though, but what Swans album isn't? I've heard "New Mind" of Children Of God and loved it, so I'll probably get that one next. i agree with you - partially - if ESC was an east competition, so how come just 2 years ago a nordic won the competition? ESC is an east & north europe competition. Charlotte vs. Ani: Ani was much better (more dynamism, dancers, choreography, etc.). I knew from the beginning Sweden made the worst choice (same as 2005 when they sent LasVegas instead of HallOmMeg, which would have won ESC for Sweden). So please send a good song first, then let's discuss whether ESC became east competition or not.
