People who undertake the project of living sustainably - - they can be from varied socio-economic, cultural, and geographic backgrounds; who live in varied type of landscapes (even suburban); who may actually still use some modern technologies, even while growing their own food, building their own homes, etc. People who live off-the-grid can set up their home economy so as to have MORE spare time than wage-earners. Does that sound so bad? Is fresh air, healthy food, fair labor... "primitive"?

All I know is that I want my kids to grow up respecting the environment that gives them life. If they don't grow up with that built, intrinsically, into their persona, then won't they be guilty of taking it for granted? Cause let's face it, if big momma Earth gets really angry, there ain't nothing any of us can do (no amount of cussing each other out) will stop her from wiping us out.

You know who lives a sustainable lifestyle? Peasants in third world nations Cavemen The Amish If you want to live that, fine. Go out in the woods and live in the woods with the Unabomber and leave the rest of us alone.

You ungrateful cur! You should be down on your kneees, PRAYING to the corporation not to fire your hippie ass! Here's a nickel's worth of free advice buddy - it's beatniks and hippies like YOU that are on the way out, NOT the corporate system that makes use of your otherwise wasted sack of organs.

By: flymatt1968. on 09 May 08, 16:56:05
You need to understand the only reason Ray is getting this to work is that at the end of the day it will be profitable.

The end of "The Corporation" will offer sustainability. Private control of resource extraction and production must end. The tyranny of the Corporation should be replaced with democratic, worker-owned non-corporations. Ending wealth controling the means of production through Corporations. Forty-hours per week within the economic tyranny of the Corporation is in contradiction to democratic principles. Systemic changes such as employee-elected managers offers hope for sustainabile communities.

Ray Anderson's point are well taken. Sadly most of the corporate sector is not paying much attention to this aspect of corporate performance ... and nor is leadership in politics either. Peter Burgess ... the Transparency and Accountability Network (tr-ac-net dot org)
