Taiwan is officially a province of the Republic of China (ROC), not the People's Republic of China (PRC). Taiwan had been a province of the Qing empire of China from 1683 to 1895. It was ceded to Japan for 50 years, and finally returned to the ROC after World War 2. To the people below me: There was no Fujian province 4000 years ago, and Taiwan was not even discovered around that time. You can think whatever you want but stop making stuff up out of your ass.
