We lived there for 6 years & rehearsed and wrote most of the original material that formed our first albums at 69 Darling Street Glebe, NSW Australia. They were the best of times for us because we were totally united in our struggles for success as a band.

What ever did happen to the great Aussie pub band? The eighties were a great time to go see an awesome band in a pub. Spy v Spy, Sonnyboys, Ratcat to name just a few. The kids these days being fed fake crap gangsta rap shit and faggot boy dance groups etc, just don't realise what they are missing out on. Real bands doing songs they wrote and that come from the heart, not just to some formula to sell to 11yr old girls and morons who can't think for themselves. I must be getting old :-(

Beautiful! Michael Weilly is still touring in a "Spy v Spy" band (without Craig Bloxom). I caught them about 10 months ago in Taree. I think the vocalist is the drummer that stepped into Cliff Griggs' shoes, at first it doesn't sound right but within 3-4 songs, they're going off!!

RAM has it wrong. I spent a lot of time climbing and walking around some of the cliffs(treacherous mind you) in the video when I was a kid, and still have lots of family in the area. Craig Bloxom was raised around this area too ( Raymond Terrace- his mum still lives there). The video for One of A Kind was shot just south of here at the famous Stockton Beach.

Craig - How the hell do you play that bass around your knees? You must have arms like an orangatang. I saw you guys live a dozen times, interviewed you once or twice, even pestered you for an autograpgh after a gig in Ballarat once. You were always friendly and polite. Why 'Clear Skies' never got the airplay it deserved is a musical tragety, but let it be known in some parallel universe somewhere your songs are getting flogged on the radio and the kids are loving it...thanks!

i think fossil had a couple of great tracks. sure..... not their best work but an interesting album non-the less. i think the gathering (yes! i know it was written pre-cuffe era) and so fast are great tracks. i don't mind spinning them from time to time. the only thing i think is sad is the whole 'trying to keep it going' thing they're doing right now. it's pretty sad.

the earlier Spy songs are superior , period. I have a pretty good life as it is , thanks anyway. I listened to it once and gave it away. Oh no , unfortunately I saw the Fossil songs being played and it was 3 times too many , Caringbah Inn , Balmain Leagues and Dee Why and believe me , it was a total non-event , cringe worthy. Yep so true..I think the band took a different direction(as most bands will at some stage) with the new drummer at the time Mark Cuffe having an influence in the writing. But not a write off at all I reckon.

Guess the other Spies song Credit Cards sums it up, buy off all the kids with "easy credit" and cock and bull stories about the poles melting and they will be to busy self-righteously arguing over the weather and watching Australia Idiot I mean Idol to notice the growing financial storm. A wave of conservatism has been crashing over the English speaking world for the past decade or more and we are so typical of that.
