I think the main confusion with discussions on Ethics is that 'Ethics" and "Morality" are used interchangably when they clearly can't be. To me, the distinction between the two is that Morality applies to ALL and Ethics apply to a specific set of circumstances, for instance, to a specific profession and the aims of that profession.

It's not always as clear-cut as you you seem to have implied Malasubidude. It is a good start to say that you put others before yourself, but the problem of ethics isn't just in dealing with those everyday clear-cut cases. It's in dealing with more complex cases which will often leave you wondering if you made the right choice afterward, or wishing you'd thought of what you'd do in such a situation beforehand. &, though your 'put others first' idea is simple, it is a basic system of ethics.

I agree that this trend of applying utilitarian ethics to "extreme circumstancs" really undermines the humanity and morality we ought to be bringing to our ethical decisions.
