I don't get how people say they sold out. Really. They sound like no other band out right now. They've always stayed original. If people say Dookie was the only good album and that they changed. You're pretty stupid cause' they didn't play the same shit every album. And that Green Day can cover a John Lennon song and make it sound good. That's a damn good band.

1. this is a song by elton john, who is definitely not emo. 2. green day came before the whole modern emo trend, starting around the early-mid 90s. 3. emo is characterized by doing nothing about your insignificant problems other than whining about them. the video makes the purpose, stopping genocide in darfur, obvious. it also does something about it.
