I've seen the Celtic Women's version on PBS several times ... it just doesn't do it for me. His heart-felt rendition is all about the nostalgia of Scotland. He wrote this song while he was in Australia on a tour. We do indeed miss Scotland when we are gone for too long. Of course I live 6,000 miles from Scotland, but my 1/4 Scottish blood keeps me in-touch.

I opened up for Dougie many years ago up here in Alaska. We sat at the bar after the concert and picked guitars and traded odd tunings back and forth til around 8 am.. He had to play that morning at a book store in another town, and it was painful for him because of all the drinks and no sleep.. He calls me every now and then and reminds me that we should not make a habbit of doing that next time.. Dougie is a great guy and his picking is so clean..Thats what comes from constant playing..
