wow you have quite a unique take on the lyrics. Originally, sung by trent reznor, it was a piss on relegion. Cash however did this song so well, he almost made it his own. made all the lyrics reflect him or his life. awesome job johnny!

Whether or not it was originally intended to mock him isn't really important. The crown of shit alludes to a king who is high and mighty, but in reality on the inside he hasn't done anything good and all his lifes work is, well shit. Whereas with jesus he was treated like a traiter, and a fraud, "like shit" when in reality on the inside he was holy and noble. I know Cash isn't really saying he's Christ but how does he figure that by showing symbol of love, that he's belittling himself?
