very smart. you can also use binomial expansion, it is also quite useful: (100+4)^2 = 100^2 + 4^2 + 2*4*100 =10816

you should go watch the video titled "fast grammar trick" it'll help you with your first sentence. more easy is not what you say there, it's easier.

His technique is derived from your example of what I learned as FOIL (First Inner Outer Last) with shortcuts. Play with the algebra and you'll see how it works. I used FOIL to reach the same answers and with practice I am sure I could do so as quickly as his examples. What happens when he needs to calculate the a product that is the difference of two squares, for example 28 x 32 which can be written as (30-2)*(30+2)?
