I used to love Elton to the point of listening to his songs over and over until I cried. Then I was crushed when I heard that he was gay, although i still love him and his music. This video was when I don't think he even knew he was gay, and wrote with Bernie Taupin. They were a great duo. Elton deserves accolades for his work and life, he is truly a blessed and special human being.

I prefer his songs with piano alone. One can hear more notes to the progressive chords, and it helps one to appreciate the enormous talent that this man possesses. It must be immensely difficult to play like that and sing at the same time. Only a musical genius such as Elton John could turn such a relatively simple tune into a masterpiece. Thought they too are good and much better at music than I, I doubt that any other contemporary artists could even dream of doing what Elton does so naturally.

I think I first heard this song when in the navy in Okinawa in early 1972; I recorded it on cassette tape and played it wherever I went on ships or land, together with odd favorites from "Swan Lake"; I still tear up whenever I hear it--it somehow reminds me so perfectly of that era, east asia, the navy, all of it.

this is fantastic. one of the best performances i've ever seen. elton was truly an anomaly. a white guy with such soul. an epic, operatic, worldly sense. in some sense he reminds of Robert Johnson in this movie

Guys just thought I'd mention, since yesterday seems like a few of my videos are getting taken down for "copyright violation"... however I am told that the family of Florian are happy about this one being here. Indeed I've had many posts from the artistes themselves about the videos and how they love the fact they are reaching a new audience (selling new/old CDs, gigs and so on) because of it... so I guess its more to do with the publishing companies...

I agree with you on the whole Roman Catholic Church. I can't even go into what's wrong there, it'd take every bit on You Tube comment space that's available! But Christianity is VERY mystical (I don't mean that in an occult sense, I mean that in awe of the power and glory of our Creator). If you ever watch Paul and Jan Crouch on TBN you'll know what I'm taking about. Not trying to judge them, that's for God to do. But alot of those shows make Christianity to be exactly that...a show.

Nadie pone en duda que la salsa deriva de ritmos Cubanos, pero la salsa es algo distinto en ultimas -los arreglos musicales y la instrumentacion de la salsa son distintos a los del son, por ejemplo- La musica evoluciona simplemente, no se por qué siempre se viene al punto de discutir que fue primero y que no. Africa trajo el ritmo primero que los Cubanos, con instrumentos y todo. La salsa de los 70s puso en escena una cantidad impresionante de musicos virtuosos -muchos de ellos no son Cubanos-.

Kitchen fitter Richard Sinclair in my opinion has a better voice than the overrated Robert Wyatt with whom he would appear to share vocal similarities. Both crucial in their own way to the Canterbury scene the melancholic and p.c. warble of R .Wyatts always makes me feel a bit queasy and a retuning of the dial is neccesary to R. Sinclairs magical folk tinged vocal delivery. Richard also wrote many fine songs with the various ensembles he was associated with - share it and Gods song come to mind
