And it probably will hold it's value much better. However as a second hand car I believe the MiTo may be an awesome choice considering the very steep depreciation on Alfa's. Great report, I'll try and do my own comparison when they launch the MiTo here. There is something about an Alfa, some weird feeling they manage to build into their cars. They're bonkers and break alot but you still love them.

I have now driven the Mito 1.4 155hp and the Scirocco 1.4 160hp (in Portugal they cost practically the same and I was in doubt about which one I would buy). The Mito is good, but the Scirocco is in another league. For the same money (?1.500 difference...), there are no second thoughts. The suspension (DCC), the steering, the engine, the interior quality, the rear seats space and the gearbox are a lot better in the Scirocco. The whole VW feels more premium.

Its the people that are driving awful two wheel drive imported sub-compacts that cause the issues on the hills in Seattle. You westsiders should spend some time in Spokane/Pullman/Yakima/etc. and learn to actually drive in the snow IMHO.

Hehe...I missed the road I was supposed to turn on the other day because of an unexpected patch of ice...slid right past it. Had to find a place to turn back around. I think the guy who accelerated saw that he was about to hit the snow covered car and/or light pole next to the building, so he frantically tried to change his direction. Awful idea, but I can see why he did it - he wanted to control his car and when the brakes and steering wouldn't respond he decided to try to accelerator!

I did this same drive, but the other way (NYC to LA) and I noticed you cut out alot of parts and took some very weird routes to get there. Firstly, why go through Vegas? I-40 would have been alot faster to get to New Mexico. And driving on the Strip doesn't save much time... Also, I don't notice you ever stopping for gas. Any why does going from LA to New MExico take about the same amount of time as New Mexico to NYC?
