Gilbert is epic, and look at his god damned hands. They're like lean little fretboard martial artists. And you can definitely hear his influence on Bucketheads playing. Lol at all the people yabbering about it not being epic enough because he used a "looping machine". Clearly that was an integral part of the composition, and I wasn't sure if it was a sampler or a delay pedal. Still epic either way.

I agree with your point completely. Fast doesn't mean good at all. I still think they can coexist though. Someone can be fast, good and play with soul. You can't say that when Eric Clapton plays fast their is no feeling or anything thats fast in a Bach or Vivaldi piece doesn't have feeling. Which i think people forget sometimes. Not bad songs, have to say Just take my heart was better for the sole reason that it wasn't a typical 80's rock song (not a fan of that period in rock), so I guess I underestimated him. However, my point remains that people need to learn the difference between a good guitar player and a fast guitar player, they are worlds apart. Yes well mountainsofmontana. Paul is not *opera* singer, but he might be best hope for Opera itself, like Brightman and Bocelli are as well, they bring ´Opera´ to masses. But that does not make them Opera singers yet. Bocelli gets very close tho, some times hes even able to perform on same level with the best opera singers. I like bocelli.

A top classical magazine a year ago, I think it was Classical FM but thats out of top of my head said of Paul Potts on front page. PAUL POTTS BEST HOPE FOR OPERA. Then inside it read, Paul Potts on the scene has many people interested in opera that was never before. Do the opera folks want to keep it a clique. Correction, I said most I've heard professional, I meant the BEST, I've heard, and heard them all. An opera critic from Vienna Opera House said, Paul Potts the best raw talent he had heard, but because he has not been through La Scala Colleges type training and opera elite are trained to hear technically, the opera elite find it hard to accept. Paul reached those high Cs everytime, and he sounded better than most I've heard professional, who have most likely done years in academies. Pauls classical CD has sold over 5 million copies, and this is when he was amatuer, still selling phones. Opera sales have rocketed after Paul came on scene, but of course just coincidence.

What an inspiring figure, Paul was. I have so much respect not only for his prowess in acting and the arts, but also in his intellect and compassion. This man was someone who shared the blessings he had been given with those around him. He could have easily been selfish with his time and money, but it seems to me he was an activist in the true sense of the word. I only wish I could have met him.
